Illinois is one of the most haunted states in the entire world, I know because I've been to over 50 different haunted locations in this state and still haven't seen them all!! If you couldn't tell, I'm a ghost enthusiest, I can't spell very well, and I think that ghost stories are an important part of history. Doing research for this book on legends and lore of central Illinois, me and my co-author have uncovered all sorts of things.

I figured I would start this thread for any haunted places you might know about in your area.

That is a great site, I met Troy Taylor when he came to speak at my school. I've been to Greenwood cemetery in Decatur, it's probably the cemetery with the most specific ghost stories I've been too. Even Bachelor's Grove, which has more general hauntings.

There is a huanted house in Alton Illinois that I have been to, but due to the owners have illegal parties within the condemned buildings, it has been shut down......I believe it was on the Travel Channel's Most Haunted Places.....as for Jasper County, I have very general information:

Nigger Hill (excuse the language but that is what it is called)
-supposedly haunted by slaves buried there
          Haunted Orphanage
          -no info on this
          Loveford's and Ravetown Bridges
-always heard, a couple killed themselves so on and so on

In high school a friend did a speech on huanted places in Jasper County and these were what she talked about, but she just showed me these in a class just before her speech.

That's awesome, I'd love to get more information about those places. I believe Jasper County is in the area we're coving for our book.

I might be moving to Newton, so if you need anything after we get settled me and a friend would love to help out if we could be classified as co-writers or hell, even not we would probably still do it.

lol How about just listed as sources? I could use an iterview with you guys as a source, and then your names (or pseudonames if you prefer) would be in the book. That's be cool too right?

I could tell you stories that I have experienced that would make the hair stand on end!

Let's just say that all the stories about Alton are true, and then some. Most of what I have seen has been benign, sad souls that just had a hard time making the "transfer".

Springfield is another place with lits of hauntings...mostly lonely, and mostly just wandering around. Not scary and not scared, thise "entities" retain their "worldly" look and go about their business. I'm not real sure what business they have, but two that wander around downtown are very well dressed in the period of early 1900's or so.

I've been to Springfield, it seems like the only thing haunting that place are the phantoms of progress and degradation
